Ubo Aka

The 'ubo aka' is a portable hand piano, which along with several other instruments, helped give rise to 'Egwu Ekpili', a genre of traditional music found in the Anambra basin. In Egwu Ekpili, choral groups, comparable to the griots of the old Sahelian empires, roamed localities, singing folktales, stories, and songs concerning morality, love, and everyday human experiences.

Noteworthy Ekpili musicians include Morocco Maduka and

Ezigbo Obiligbo.
