Mbari Shrines

Mbari shrines, found in the Urata culture zone of what is now Imo State, are religious buildings dedicated to the service and veneration of local deities. Local artists would often use its walls as a means of displaying their artistic talent; often painting depictions of everyday life, religious symbols, and, as seen in this photograph, sexual imagery.
